You are cordially invited to join one of the largest, one of the oldest, and one of the most successful Friends groups in the nation – The Friends of the Detroit Public Library. As a Friends member you will be able to participate in a diverse series of programs, meet your favorite authors, and take part in behind-the-scenes activities at the renowned Main Library, all while helping to build one of the most comprehensive library collections in the United States.

The Library is the basis of a healthy, literate community. Each and every contribution to The Friends helps us to achieve our goals of providing the facilities, programs and services required for a “lifetime of learning.” We thank you – our members – for the trust you have placed in us and the investment in our community your gift reflects. Your membership dues, which earn both a Federal income tax deduction and a State of Michigan credit, support the day-to-day operations and educational programming of the Detroit Public Library System. This funding is extremely critical in the Library’s efforts to provide current and critical resources to the metro-Detroit community
